A BMW 645 owner reported his prestigious sports car stolen having noticed it missing one afternoon. He had allegedly parked at his business premises at around 0930 hrs and left it there all day. He noticed the vehicle "missing" at 1545 hrs. The car was found burnt to a cinder in a field by the police that evening.
The PH handed in two keys which were duly inspected for use. Key 1 was shown last used at 0948 hrs on the day of the "theft" at odometer reading 34, 263 miles. Key 2 was used on the very same day at 1320 hrs with a recorded odometer reading of 34,292 miles - i.e. 29 miles more than when he parked it (allegedly) at work.
Plotting his work address as the start of a journey and the burn locus as the end on Google maps (TM) shows a journey of.... you guessed it.... 29 miles!!!

"Woooooow wo woooooaaaah, my Passat's on fire..."
One "flaming" fibber of a PH submitted a claim for the loss of his 2001 Passat. He claims it was stolen, only to be found abandoned with minor interior fire damage. There were no signs of a break in.. because the PH drove the car to the burn locus himself, set fire to the interior, shut and locked the doors with his key and then "hot footed" it away. The fire quickly went out due to a lack of oxygen due to the doors and windows being shut. He should have spotted the CCTV camera... it spotted him!!
