The owners of a Takeuchi TB175 8 Ton tracked excavator reported their asset stolen to Bedfordshire police on Tuesday April 20th and at 0912 hrs its Sure-track tracking unit went into alarm. At 1015 hrs Ambersett was contacted and it was requested that "finder", Director, Bill Hurr, went on the hunt. Bill was out by 1030 hot on the trail of the stolen excavator. By 1253 Bill was on location in Bedfordshire and at 1315 acquired the Radio beacon signal of the stolen unit's tracking system. The approximate location (a farm behind some houses) was noted and the local police called for backup entering the premises.
Bedfordshire Police sent three ANPR Interceptor units at 1400hrs and with their assistance getting on site, Bill was able to locate the stolen excavator by 1413 hrs. To everyone's delight, the stolen Takeuchi was parked next to a JCB back-hoe loader which also turned out to be stolen from Peterborough the previous weekend.
This was Ambersett's first (of many I hope) tracks using the Sure-track system. The asset owner was very impressed and returned his excavator to base for a quick once-over before putting it back out on hire.
Bedfordshire police now have a good idea of who the thieves were and will no doubt apprehend them in due course.
"Woooooow wo woooooaaaah, my Passat's on fire..."
One "flaming" fibber of a PH submitted a claim for the loss of his 2001 Passat. He claims it was stolen, only to be found abandoned with minor interior fire damage. There were no signs of a break in.. because the PH drove the car to the burn locus himself, set fire to the interior, shut and locked the doors with his key and then "hot footed" it away. The fire quickly went out due to a lack of oxygen due to the doors and windows being shut. He should have spotted the CCTV camera... it spotted him!!
